the game has not even started yet and i'm already concerned and annoyed. WHY is caracciolo starting??

not even kickoff and the announcer is giving me an eye twitch. (i'm watching on star sports. for now.) the announcer is claiming the trouble with palermo is all down to amauri. sure, amauri being injured isn't trivial, but certain players petulance and bad attitude hasn't helped. andrea caracciolo, i'm looking at you.

1-the stream freezes just as cara gets the ball. i'm not sure if i want to smack the stream or cara.

3-cara has another shot on goal that i don't see. i've decided: i want to smack the stream. (at least i heard this one.)
palermo free kick. cara takes another shot. (this one i get to see on the replay.)
4-palermo corner. ends up with the keeper.
5-palermo defense could take a little more time with that clearance.
torino free kick.
6-can i just say how happy i am to have fontana back in goal?
7-simplicio wins a free kick. nothing interesting comes of it.
8-offsides, but not sure against who. (stupid stream.)
i know i'm like a broken record, but simplicio is the weakest link.
9-torino free kick
10-the stream continues to blow. i'm getting things in two second chunks.
11-cara gets a head on the ball. definitely ate his wheaties this morning. or maybe he feels he has something to prove. either way, i like. let's see how long it lasts.
12-the stream sucks incredibly, but i think di michele and cara tried to combine. it didn't work, but new improved cara applauds the effort.
13-handball against zaccardo. (it was a pretty blatant one too.)
14-torino take their kick. brevi gets a head on the ball, but it's way over the goal.
end to end football: a shot by di michele? is followed by torino taking the ball right back to
palermo's end and winning a corner.
15-torino do nothing with their corner.

16-the defense have it together today.
17-good thing, too.
18-torino corner. stream freezes. palermo throw-in.
whoa. i LIKE new, improved caracciolo! he passes to di michele, who makes a lovely run, then gets tripped up by the last man right outside the box. brevi gets a yellow, palermo get a free kick.
19-kick goes straight into the wall. (i think it was di michele who took it.)
20-series of palermo throw-ins. zaccardo loses the ball, takes down a torino man from behind, collects a yellow card. *sigh*
21-*headdesk* (i've gotten tired of saying he's the weakest link. *headdesk* is shorter.)
22-the announcer loves barzagli, even if he can't say his name right.

guidolin looks cranky as usual.

35- palermo free kick. simplicio is back on but gimping.

i'd love to see what would happen if cara and di michele were ever both ON on the same day.
37-foul against ciramitaro, but buggered if i can see what is was, even on the replay.
38-ok, now torino are just tumbling for the fun of it.
-they seem to be trying to get yellows for the whole palermo defense.
39-torino take their kick, the ball goes straight through and out for a palermo throw.

40-wtf? torino corner on what looked to be clearly a palermo goal kick.

42 -oh, for fuck's sake, ref, the torino man dove like a swan. they really are trying to get yellows for the whole palermo backline!
43-bu-uh? the announcer has compared cara to peter crouch. cara may be tall and spindly, but he doesn't look nearly as much like a giraffe.
-palermo free kick. simplicio puts it near the far post, goalie punches away.
44-palermo throw. torino get the ball.
-bresciano gets a cross in, cara gets a head on it, di michele tries to help it along, but can't quite.
45-bugger. cara offsides, but it looks like the goalie had it either way.

why is the stream flawless at halftime? i'm going to be highly annoyed if it turns to crap as soon as play resumes.

players are coming back out. the stream is still pretty. cara and di michele are still looking cheerful.

47-zaccardo back pass under pressure to fontana, fontana clears.
-lovely play from barzagli, who not only stops the shot, but keeps the ball in, stays calm, and clears nicely.
48-ref, have you noticed the diving from torino? cause that one was blatant. there was NOBODY near him!
49-cara gets the ball in the box, but is smothered by 3 torino defenders. the ball heads back towards the palermo end.
50-torino throw.
-barzagli gets the ball, passes to bresciano, to di michele. palermo free kick.
51-long ball from torino accomplishes what they wanted: torino throw in the palermo end.

mhmmmm, carrrrrooooo. was very good today. i am proud of him and his lanky legs. if he can keep this up [attitude] then we'll get somewhere. maybe with cavani. gosh, i missed him today.

I missed Cavani too. I think Cara-Cavani or Di Michele-Cavani is a much more likely scoring combo than Cara-Di Michele. It's not that they don't try, but bless 'em they just can't seem to both be "on" at the same time. *sighs*

GOD that was grim. Or am I just expecting too much? Honestly, by mid-second half I was really, really depressed. Partially, probably, because Torino looked so good. Sort of like Palermo used to look. *sob*

I think you might be expecting too much, but Palermo could have been better. I'm sticking to my theory that Di Michele and Caracciolo, through no fault of their own, just can't play well together. One or the other starts, but both is a waste. Cara was on today, and Di Michele...was not. Also, the team needs to work on control and focus. (And Simplicio needs to play bench for a game.)

Bresciano and Diana? Possibly also Cassani? It's not like Palermo are lacking in the midfield department, which is why I don't understand why Guidolin is so stuck on Simplicio. Yes, when he does good things, he's worth it, but that's not a regular occurrence lately, and he really is the weakest link. He's too hesitant about moving forward, and his passes end up with the other team as often as with his own. I'm not sure if it's a confidence thing or what, cause looking back at the beginning of the season, it seems he was much more effective and involved in scoring. (Do you have any idea when Corini will be back?)
