Nothing is quite as hypocritical as someone on the internet saying they "don't believe" in evolution.

It's been a while. But apparently Ben Stein has a movie out in which the miracle of modern science cinematography combined with lying "disproves" evolution, and it's brought out the crazy brigade.

judge bars intelligent design from pa biology classes

as it should be. keep religion in religion class, and science in science. let students reconcile the disciplines in their own time if they find contradictions.

wie bitte?

kreationismus in thüringen

translation: what the sweet fuck? creationism in thüringen. (no link cause i'm too lazy to find out if spiegel has a translated version of the article. and i'm way too lazy to translate it myself. not to mention too busy.)

great, the christian crazies' effort to turn the clock back to medieval times is being exported to europe now. i wonder if they've thought about liasing with their comrades in arms, the islamic crazies? they all seem to have the same goal of getting back to the "good old times" when you could stone/burn the sinners in the market square.

rant one:
to the morons on mile end road-do you really think that honking your horn helps? do you really? cause based on the evidence of the past five minutes, it's accomplished fuck all. so could you please KNOCK IT OFF?

rant two:
to the "intelligent design" morons-number one, i don't like your concept of god. any god that would announce something as stupid as you are to be the apotheosis of its creation is piss poor. number two, show me the fucking evidence. go on, show me the evidence. oh, right, you can't because you don't have any. you can't prove there's a designer, but scientists can line up hordes of evidence for evolution. the best you can come up with is a glorified whine that reflects your own stupidity. "but it doesn't make SENSE! things are too COMPLICATED to have evolved." you then proceed to ignore the plain explanations given to you by science. if the survival of the species ever depends on your ingenuity, we're all fucked. with an attitude like that, we'd still be struggling to master the mysteries of fire. number three, what next? should we teach the controversy in math class too? if davy believes that 2 + 2 = 6, should we compromise and say 2 + 2 = 5, even though mathematics (not to mention direct observation) has long agreed that 2 + 2 = 4? number four, please stop making use of modern medicine. you don't believe in science, so don't get vaccinations. or use blood pressure medicine. or cholesterol medication. or insulin. or painkillers. or pretty much anything that science had a hand in, because the same science that makes all that stuff says darwin's theory is the best explanation we have for the diversity in the natural world.

stuff like this makes me wish i had kids. or knew kids young enough to be given a book like this as a present. but i think my little cousins may be too old for it.

actually, kid's books in general are cool. i think picture books have gotten much cooler since i was little. i remember picture books being sort of kiddy paperbacks, with slightly more durable covers. like the berenstein bears. now? the colors! the textures! the prettiness! i mean, look at this one. (which, by the way, i actually have, because it was too cool not to get.)
