I have come up with the complete manuals for plant/animal product entry into the US.
All on the APHIS web site.

World's Healthiest Foods is all about food that's good for you (ie, lots of fruit & veg.) For those of us who are a little fruit and veg challenged, in addition to explaining how all the foods it lists are good for you, they also give you tips on how to pick them. There's also some recipes and general nutrional info/faq.

But this website = AWESOME. VolaGratis. Granted, it's in Italian, but still-it searches the low-cost airlines so you can find the cheapest flight!

edit Genius that I am, if you clicked on the little UK flag, you can get it in English as BravoFly. You're only allowed so many searches a day without registering, though.

I found a link to Local Harvest in the comments to LitBrit's latest post on the Chinese tainted food issue. It looks like a nice resource, although I'm guessing a lot of people (and importantly, farmers and farmers' markets) are unaware of it-I looked up South Jersey and there's just NO WAY Cowtown is the only farmers market around. Take it, use it, pass it on!

In my search of the internets, I found this fairly comprehensive size chart helpful. (I'm not just after a Palermo shirt.

I have found a Palermo shirt in a youth size, but I'm a bit bummed at the price. (Also, slightly dubious that it is indeed identical to the adult size shirt...) Hoping I can find something better. So far on eBay all I've found is super satiny or obviously fake. (The collars are wierd.)

Am also toying with the idea of a Napoli shirt. If they make it back into Serie A, they'll be my other team next year. (That one's cheaper apparently for no other reason than it's a size that would fit me. Of course, the shipping doubles the price. And I'm wary of what HM bloody Customs & Excise would tack on...)

go look at this. it's an animation, and it might take some time to load, but it's so worth it.

if you don't want to look at the animation, look at this still.

a sign from god: fundamentalist group claims hurricane katrina looks like a fetus, thus must be a punishment for abortion

um. yeah. not to use logic or anything, but those colors? they're just stuff the weather geeks put in so you can see things in a meaningful way. guessing that particular image shows rainfall. if you look at it from space, it looks like a storm. not a fetus. and the land isn't all uniformly green either. (if you want to see what it looks like, here's a nasa pic-"katrina arrives.")

i don't know if katrina imagery will still be there, but feel free to explore the wonders of modern meteorology for yourself on the noaa national hurricane center website. click on the satellite imagery option in the side menu for more satellite images in various formats than you can shake a stick at.

and if anyone wants more pretty pictures from space, nasa photo gallery, the jsc image collection and earth from space gallery are all fun to browse through. (which reminds me, i downloaded the images to try to make myself a rotating earth icon...)
