rant one:
to the morons on mile end road-do you really think that honking your horn helps? do you really? cause based on the evidence of the past five minutes, it's accomplished fuck all. so could you please KNOCK IT OFF?

rant two:
to the "intelligent design" morons-number one, i don't like your concept of god. any god that would announce something as stupid as you are to be the apotheosis of its creation is piss poor. number two, show me the fucking evidence. go on, show me the evidence. oh, right, you can't because you don't have any. you can't prove there's a designer, but scientists can line up hordes of evidence for evolution. the best you can come up with is a glorified whine that reflects your own stupidity. "but it doesn't make SENSE! things are too COMPLICATED to have evolved." you then proceed to ignore the plain explanations given to you by science. if the survival of the species ever depends on your ingenuity, we're all fucked. with an attitude like that, we'd still be struggling to master the mysteries of fire. number three, what next? should we teach the controversy in math class too? if davy believes that 2 + 2 = 6, should we compromise and say 2 + 2 = 5, even though mathematics (not to mention direct observation) has long agreed that 2 + 2 = 4? number four, please stop making use of modern medicine. you don't believe in science, so don't get vaccinations. or use blood pressure medicine. or cholesterol medication. or insulin. or painkillers. or pretty much anything that science had a hand in, because the same science that makes all that stuff says darwin's theory is the best explanation we have for the diversity in the natural world.

Nicely ranted, and bonus points for "accomplished fuck all."

I've got no real problem with ID being taught in schools. But if you're going to teach it at all, teach it in a subject where it is relevant. Science is not that subject.

religion isn't taught in us schools, thus the only place i can comprehend intelligent design having a place in the classroom is at sunday school. science is science and religion is religion and it's up to the individual to decide how to reconcil the two (or not, as the case may be.) there are plenty of scientists who go to church sundays and have no problems with evolution.

That's the other thing, they're two mutually exclusive theories. As for there being no religious classes, from what I can tell ID is more of a philosophical idea than anything else. Surely the US has philosophy classes over there?

id is just creationism with all mention of god deleted to skirt the seperation of church and state. it's a strategy the bible-beaters are using rather successfully. create doubt about evolution in the minds of the layfolk by muddying the waters, point to this conveniently "non-religious" alternative that also has zero scientific merit as its central premise is untestable, and then say that we must "teach the controversy."

I think it's safe to say that the people calling for ID to be taught in schools have an agenda.
