great. just great.
new plan: let's pre-emptively nuke countries or groups we think have wmds
if i'm the iranians or the syrians, i'd be shitting myself right about now. i don't think they actually have wmds, but i also don't think that matters. the current administration isn't terribly interested in what they term the "reality-based community." and are they seriously considering using nukes to blow up nukes, bio weapons, and chemical weapons? i'm not a biochem expert, or a nuclear engineer, but it sounds to me like an idea with plenty of potential for ugly screwups. (radioactive anthrax, anyone?)

on a side note, does anyone else think it's a bad plan to have people waiting for the rapture in charge of the weapons that seriously could end the world?

a sign from god: fundamentalist group claims hurricane katrina looks like a fetus, thus must be a punishment for abortion

um. yeah. not to use logic or anything, but those colors? they're just stuff the weather geeks put in so you can see things in a meaningful way. guessing that particular image shows rainfall. if you look at it from space, it looks like a storm. not a fetus. and the land isn't all uniformly green either. (if you want to see what it looks like, here's a nasa pic-"katrina arrives.")

i don't know if katrina imagery will still be there, but feel free to explore the wonders of modern meteorology for yourself on the noaa national hurricane center website. click on the satellite imagery option in the side menu for more satellite images in various formats than you can shake a stick at.

and if anyone wants more pretty pictures from space, nasa photo gallery, the jsc image collection and earth from space gallery are all fun to browse through. (which reminds me, i downloaded the images to try to make myself a rotating earth icon...)

FDA breaks promise to senators, delays decision on plan b yet again

this is such bullshit. studies done in slightly less backward countries where the morning-after pill is available over the counter show that it has no effect on promiscuity. so could we stop having such a stupid discussion?

edit: i don't remember the approval process for viagra being dragged out this long, and i don't remember the word "promiscuity" having any place in the discussion. that, boys, is called sexism.

perhaps in addition to "thou shalt not kill", you might also want to review that commandment about "thou shalt not bear false witness." dude, you were on TV when you said it. they have tapes. didn't you used to be a televangelist? shouldn't you know this? you said assassination. honest really. it's on tape. maybe you should watch it.
