lucky for florida and the gulf coast that so far there's been no followup to katrina storm-wise. cross your fingers, though, cause the weather service is warning that the storm off the bahamas could turn into a tropical depression. maria and nate should stay out in the atlantic where there's nothing but boats for them to wreck. (i'm actually waiting to see if they smash into each other and make one huge storm.) i just wondered though...what happens if there's more storms than names? i mean, if they get to wilma and there's another one after that, do they just start with arlene again? arlene 2?

after telling mark i wasn't going to go swim because i didn't trust the weather, i got so annoyed by the news that bush is going to head the investigation about the katrina cockup and his mother is an insensitive wench* (after his wife yesterday explained that poor people die in disasters and that's just the way it is) that i went and swam anyway. worked out it takes me half an hour to get to the pool, which is actually a bit less than on the tube. also found out that the pool is closing thursday for the rest of the month. not sure what this means for swim lessons, but since the desk worker told me he could give me today and tomorrow due to the pool closing last week, it means i save £25 not paying for the monthly membership. i did however overdo it in the pool ever so slightly and regret it when i got to the foot tunnel and had to take the stairs.

*yes, that was the politest formulation i could come up with.
