is it some wierd south jersey thing to expect that the deli counter SLICES cheese, rather than just hand you a quarter pound chunk of cheese? cause i thought that was the whole point of a deli counter. they slice things with their shiny slicing machines.

for those who are confused, my head is hurting due to a discussion i had with my officemates. deli counters in this country only slice meat. and neither kate nor matt has ever heard of provolone.
me: "it's cheese. it's italian. it's good for sandwiches."
kate: "it's like she's speaking in some alien tongue. words are coming out and she thinks they're english, but they make no sense."
