ironically, the last two dvds i should have been getting from screenselect, which they claim were dispatched monday, have not arrived and i've had to report them lost in the post. i'm going to find out how to let the post office know that i don't want dvd envelopes left outside anymore, just on the off chance that the root of all this is some smart-ass kid walking off with the dvds when the postman leaves them. (arguing against that is the fact that it's only EVER dvds that have gone missing, despite amazon packages, packages from overseas, and packages from my neighbor's bank all being left in the same place next to the door.)

i've investigated lovefilm and blockbuster, and [livejournal.com profile] mrmonkeyman told me that amazon has a new dvd rental service. so regardless of what happens with screenselect, i will not be dvd rental-less.

i've also changed my billing with screenselect to a credit card rather than my debit card, so if they try to hold me responsible for the missing discs, i can and will dispute the charge.

eta: i've just phoned royal mail and told them what's going on and they're going to pass the message to the postman to please put dvd envelopes through the mail slot rather than leave them on the doorstep.

i FINALLY for the first time since moving here biked to lewisham centre instead of taking the bus. SO much easier. (although wearing gloves would have been an idea.) shall definitely be biking for all future grocery runs. if there was more bike parking that i knew of, i would bike to and from the station in the morning. when it gets warmer, i may explore the route to greenwich. i don't see myself biking to and from uni, though, as that would involve taking my bike down the foot tunnel at greenwich.

and i'm puzzled as to why boots doesn't sell rubbing alcohol. (isopropyl alcohol.) uk folk? i figured it would be the kind of thing you get from a drugstore. i've also just realized we probably have some in lab and i should have asked matt or jp on friday. *smacks forehead*
