read a banned book!
Sep. 28th, 2005 09:42 amthis week is banned books week.
care to raise the blood pressure of the folks who want to take us back to the stone age? (or just in search of new reading material?)
check out the american library association's 2004 ten most challenged books, the 100 most frequently challenged books of 1990-2000 or just take advantage of the good folks at penn who put together a handy page full of banned books in digital format and a bit about the history of those books being banned.
and for those on a tight budget, i feel the need to plug project gutenberg again, seeing as that's where most of my "new" reading material comes from these days.
and just because i'm killing time while waiting for the computer to chug through some files, ( banned books meme )
