the rooney fallout

haven't heard what the tabloids have to say yet, but i can say that the reaction from the england team and former manager is exactly the wrong reaction. the boy needs a good kick up the arse and to be told to get control of his temper or learn to love warming the bench. instead, they're coddling him, and he'll do it again. it's just a matter of when. (sven has also said the ref told him the card was for the kick to the portuguese player. but i bet the shove after and the mouth didn't help.)

you're right.
but it's england's loss. he's done it before, and he'll do it again. and until there are professional consequences for him acting out on the field, he won't change his ways. and it's bad for the game. it's bad for the current team because they'll always be wondering if they'll have rooney and 11 men for 90 minutes, and bad for the future team in that it sends a message to kids coming up that this shit will be tolerated and excused.

Yeah, it is their loss. Rooney could potentially cost us any trophies for the next ten years, and that's quite worrying.

more on the temper that could keep england in permanent also-ran status. if this article in the mirror (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/tm_objectid=17324131%26method=full%26siteid=94762%26headline=exclusive%2d%2drood%2dmist-name_page.html) is at all accurate, he needs intervention stat. that he was even contemplating doing such a stupid thing, let alone had to be talked out of it and escorted to the team bus...he's a loose cannon.
