awake and rested

that rested part is a little surprising, especially considering i went to bed around 5am est after going a whole day on 4 hours sleep. a whole day stretching from london to south jersey, i mean.
rotk is good. peter jackson thankfully did not pull a matrix reloaded and drop the ball. the battle scenes were awesome. and the elf once again defied all laws of physics, but damn it looked good. sam got to have his hero moments. my favorite part of the entire book/movie-eowyn dealing out just desserts to the witch king. and gollum...the fight at the end is priceless.
that said, i wasn't entirely happy with the way it wrapped up. pj left too many loose ends. saruman's storyline wasn't wrapped up, faramir and eowyn never happened, and i'm still unhappy about the extreme rewrite of the elrond/arwen storyline. i wasn't pleased with it in the first two, but it was really bad in this one. was also a bit unhappy with what they did with denethor, and how the palantirs were glossed over except for pippin looking into the orthanc one. and the ending...i know it had to be a difficult movie to end, but i think it could have been improved. it's like pj wasn't sure how to deal with so many goodbyes, he just made it into a series of almost ending vignettes.
and before anyone jumps on me, all this doesn't mean i don't still think that rotk isn't a great movie, just that i think it could have been better still.
i wanna see it again. but that will probably wait until after kristina's visit.
